My life’s mate
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Something happened on Sunday that really spoke to me. I know it wasn’t a really big thing to most, but in the midst of it, God spoke to me. I am just so thankful that I was able to experience that time and have it in my memory now.
Three couples in our church family were celebrating their wedding anniversaries this week. Bro. Allan and Jan Snapp were celebrating their 52nd on Sunday the 12th. God brought them together, watched over them down through the years and blessed them with a great family.
Then Bro. John and Robbie Locke will be celebrating their 22nd anniversary on Saturday the 18th. I remember the day they got married because I was privileged to perform their ceremony. I am so proud for them as they celebrate this special time.
Then Vicki and I celebrated our 42nd anniversary on Monday the 13th. I know I mention that nearly every year, but it’s such a special time for me. God opened the door for us to be together and share our lives over the years.
I am quite sure that Vicki will have a special place in Heaven after having to put up with me. (please, no Amen’s!) Many people know Vicki and always tell me what a special woman she is. I will have to say that I agree with everyone. She is special and truly filled with love.
I am quite positive that God has a special place for her. The love she has shown to me, our children and our grandchildren is amazing. Her love goes beyond playing games with the grandchildren as well as letting them have sleep-overs. It goes to the very depths of who she is. Truth is her love is truly amazing!
Proverbs 31:25-31 says – 25 ‘Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future. 26 She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. 27 She looks well to the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. 28 Her children rise up and bless her; her husband also, and he praises her, saying: 29 “Many daughters have done nobly, But you excel them all.” 30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. 31 Give her the product of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.’
I will have to say that Vicki has been a true woman of faith and love all down through the years. She has exhibited love and grace in all the years we have been together. She was there when my struggles were difficult as well as being there for our children and grandchildren.
Her life has not been easy in any way, but from that special day on July 13, 1978 to now, she has been a shining example to those around her. With each passing day, she continues to lift prayers and petitions for those in need whether it is family, friends or simply someone she heard about.
I don’t want to put her on a pedestal and make her the focus of everyone’s attention, but then again I do. After all, she has been determined through the years to be a woman God can use and be that witness of God’s love and grace.
So without making you listen to any more of what a great wife, mother, and grandmother that she is let me just say this -- I am blessed to have Vicki as my life’s mate. So Happy Anniversary, Vicki! I do love you!
JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!!
Christ only, always,
