“This will be a UPRA sanctioned rodeo with KPRI and IPRA co-sanctioned,” said Canadian Rodeo Association’s President Jeannita Ellison.
Performances include bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, ranch bronc riding, tie-down calf roping, ladies’ breakaway roping, steer wrestling, ladies’ barrel racing, bull riding and team roping with stock provided by Medicine River Rodeo.
“We will have a dance on the 4th following the fireworks display that is put on by the Canadian Volunteer Fire Department.
“Tyler Wilhem out of Elk City, Okla. will be [the entertainment] for the dance,” Ellison said.
Admission into the rodeo will be $5 per person nightly and children age three and under will be admitted for free. Admission into the dance will be $10 per person. The event is b.y.o.b.
“We also have what we call the Family Fun Zone. It’s at one end of the arena and it’s a grass area. You have to bring your own chairs, but a lot of people like to sit over there so the kids can run around because it’s fenced in,” Ellison said.
A full concession stand will be open with hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, frito pie, drinks, candy and popcorn available.
In regards to social distancing, “We are asking that people do what the Governor of Texas has requested.”
“We will have hand sanitizer scattered throughout the bleachers and also at the concession stand,” Ellison added.
