County signs inter-local agreement with City to combine dispatches
The Gray County Commissioners Court met Monday morning for a regularly-scheduled meeting.
Just as the Pampa City Commissioners did last week, the Gray County Commissioners agreed to an inter-local agreement with the City of Pampa to combine dispatches.
“I feel like it’s a pretty fair agreement with some give and take on both sides,” County Judge Chris Porter said. “There is a 90-day opt out and this is an agreement that will be re-applied every year annually just like our jail contract and our inter-local fire department contracts.”
Commissioner Jeff Haley went over some of the details regarding the contract and confirmed both the City and the Gray County Sheriff’s Office are comfortable with the agreement.
GCSO will be providing the monitor and the board the dispatchers use, as well as roughly $20,000 for the City to remodel to accommodate the GCSO dispatchers coming in.
“On top of the start-up costs, the County is agreeing to pay $189,000/year broken down into monthly payments?,” Haley said.
Porter confirmed Haley’s question.
Commissioner Joe Wheeley asked what the savings would be to GCSO with the offices combining.
“I have it (the total budget) ball-parked at $320,000,” Porter said. “So we’re looking at about $131,000 in total savings. That’s just on salaries and benefits. As far as the logistical side as far as equipment and uniforms, there will be extra savings there.”
Combining the dispatches also provides for logistical benefits on call times and dispatching efficiency.
Tentatively, the dispatches can be combined by June 15 and the commissioners approved the item unanimously.
The commissioners also approved a resolution for CARES Act Relief Funding for Perry Lefors Airport.
“This is for approximately $69,000 for Gray County 100 percent funded,” Porter said. “The interesting thing about this is it has to be spent at the airport.”
Porter said the grant is pretty broad on what the money has to be spent on and the commissioners discussed both the grant process with Paul Lloyd from Perry Lefors Airport.
The commissioners also approved the following items:
• Pay bills as approved by the County Auditor
• County Road Agreement with US Forestry Service.
• JP 2&4 replacing part-time position employee.
• Extension Office Copier Replacement Contract.
