Fatal Vehicle vs Pedestrian Crash – Gray County
MCLEAN – The Texas Department of Public Safetway was called to the scene of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash approximately one mile east of McLean on Monday, Aug. 10 at 3:37 p.m.
Robby Robinson, 58, of Mabank, TX was driving eastbound on the inside lane on I-40 in a 2018 Kenworth truck trailer towing a semi-trailer and was approaching another truck/tractor/semi-trailer from the rear to pass it. The other truck/tractor/semi-trailer was traveling eastbound in the outside lane.
The pedestrian, Allan Dvorak, 60, of Haslet, TX, was standing on the eastboand side of I-40 on the outside shoulder. The driver of the 2018 Kenworth truck trailer towing a semi-trailer stated he observed the pedestrian run into his lane after the other other truck/tractor/semi-trailer traveled by the pedestrian. The driver of the 2018 Kenworth truck trailer towing a semi-trailer was unable to avoid collision and struck the pedestrian with the truck’s front grill. He was pronounced deceased on the scene by Gray County Justice of the Peace, Connie Ogle.
The pedestrian was working with a construction company located westbound side of I-40 and it was properly marked as an active construction zone. The area of impact where the pedestrian was struck was not in the active construction zone.
This crash remains under investigation by Texas Highway Patrol Troopers. Information may change, be corrected or added based on the investigator’s findings.
