One killed in wreck east of McLean

A New Jersey man was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 40 two miles east of McLean on Saturday morning.

At 9:41 a.m., a 2012 Lincoln MKZ, driven by Kyle Sausto, 26, Villas, N.J., was traveling west on I-40 when the vehicle veered into the center median. The driver over-corrected the steering to the right causing him to lose control of the vehicle.

The vehicle then traveled across the westbound lane of I-40 and onto the service road and into the barrow ditch when it rolled over. 

His unsecured passenger, Mark Schoonejongen, 35, Mays Landing, N.J. was ejected and died on the scene.

Texas DPS reports the driver, Sausto, stated he had fallen asleep, causing the wreck.

Crash remains under investigation by Texas. Information may change, be corrected, or added based on the investigators findings.
