The win came on a goal from freshman Justin Martinez with 7:38 left to play in the game. “We talked about at halftime how we need to connect on more passes, play more simple and after we pass we need to move,” head coach Hugo Aguillon said. “I think the goal was from Luis Montelongo, he got it and I told him whenever we get the ball we need to look more in the middle and that’s what he did. He managed to make it and Justin Martinez made a pretty difficult shot. He’s our leading scorer as a freshmen. He and Montelongo are both freshmen, I’m pretty glad I’m gonna have them the next three years.” Aguillon said the win comes after the let-down at Dumas allowed the guys to play looser and have fun. “After the loss at Dumas a lot of these guys were feeling down on themselves,” Aguillon said. “I told them it’s just cause we have to be more consistent, I told them just now the difference in this game was how we started and they said on Tuesday they felt a lot of pressure. They didn’t feel any pressure today, I said, ‘Exactly.’ I said you need to play the same whether or not the game is on the line. Play your game and have fun.” As the COVID-19 situation has pushed UIL Competition to March 31 at the earliest, the Harvesters will have to wait until April 11 to find out their playoff opponent.
