Lady Harvesters win District title, first for Aguillon
The Pampa Lady Harvesters beat Dumas 3-1 on Tuesday evening to win their District. The District Championship is the first one for head coach Hugo Aguillon. “We’ve gotten close (to winning District) twice and like I told the girls we were in this situation in the past where we would beat the hardest team in the District and we needed one more game. We would face the last-place team in the final game and be too confident and end up losing. I told these girls to be prepared because the other team isn’t going to give it to us.” Aguillon said he is thankful for the players both past and present for guiding this program to the District title. “It’s something that, even the past girls who aren’t here no more, we were working on,” Aguillon said. “The juniors and seniors always helped out the freshmen and sophomores ready and finally we got this win.” The Lady Harvesters will be facing Sweetwater tentatively on March 27 with site and time to be determined. The Harvesters, who are locked into third place, will likely be playing Snyder hopefully at the same site on the same date. Aguillon said with the 4-1 loss at Dumas the Harvesters can’t move up to second in District. “Unfortunately we’ve had some mistakes,” Aguillon said. “I wouldn’t say Dumas is better than us and the kids know it. I told them whoever makes the most mistakes and whichever team takes advantage is going to win. We had three mistakes in the first half and they ended up scoring.” Aguillon said a win Friday would go a long way toward momentum. The Harvesters return to action Friday at 5 p.m. with Senior Night at 4:40 p.m. During halftime of that game, the Lady Harvesters will have their trophy presentation for the District Title.
