AUSTIN, TX – The Charles Butt Foundation, a non-profit pursuing a more equitable and prosperous future for all Texans through education and community partnerships, is seeking applicants for its 2023 Raising School Leaders program, an initiative designed to develop stronger school leaders who will enhance the quality of education across Texas.
Educators selected as part of the cohort will attend weeklong summer institutes at the Principals’ Center at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Campus leadership teams serving Texas public schools are eligible to attend the School Turnaround Leadership institute. Principals serving Texas public schools are eligible to attend the Achieving Excellence: Leadership Development for Principals institute. Each institute is a week-long professional development summer course taught in Cambridge, Massachusetts by faculty at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
This year the program is particularly focused on selecting rural school leaders as part of the program. The application closes on March 15.
“As demographics shift in Texas, we recognize that the needs of rural schools are unique. Creating a space for rural school leaders to find commonalities, problem solve, and build a network of support is an important component of this year’s Raising School Leaders program,” said Tim Miller, Director of Leadership Development at the Charles Butt Foundation.
Since 2008, the Charles Butt Foundation has sponsored more than 1,500 principals across the state to attend training at Harvard. Expenses covered for attendees include tuition, travel, hotel, and other discretionary costs.
