The Pampa Lady Harvesters (20-6-1, 6-2) fell to the Borger Lady Bulldogs Wednesday afternoon after two sixth-inning solo home runs put Pampa’s rival on top 3-1.

“I just told them to use it as something to learn from,” Head Coach Dottie Hawthorne said. “We made mistakes and weren’t adjusting to the plate the way we used to so I told them to mentally prepare for the next game.

“We need to learn from this and this doesn’t hurt us. Other than the fact we lost to Borger, which hurts their pride a little bit, they just need to take this and prepare for the next game.”

The Lady Harvesters did tally seven hits in the game, but it was junior Sydney Larkin’s solo shot in the fifth inning that put the Lady Harvesters on board.

“Sydney knows her role on the team and goes in,” Hawthorne said. “She’s a clutch-hitter, for sure, and usually comes through for us. That’s what I like about her.”

The Lady Bulldogs’ three solo home runs were their only offensive production as sophomore Kynleigh Kirby struck out nine batters through seven innings.

The Lady Harvesters returned to action Friday at Hereford when they took on the Lady Whitefaces at 1 p.m.

“We’re going to do the same thing we usually do and hopefully our bats come alive more than they did today,” Hawthorne said. “We’re working on discipline at the plate, as well.”
