The 25th ranked Pampa Lady Harvesters opened District 4-4A play on Tuesday by hosting the West Plains Lady Wolves. Coming off a 4-0 record at the Childress tournament, beating Wellington 43-36, Vernon 47-39, Seymour 45-23 and Childress 44-39, hopes were high of starting district play with a big home win over West Plains.  However, West Plains turned a hot start into a 55-45 win over the Lady Harvesters.  The loss drops Pampa’s record to 10-4 overall and 0-1 in district play.

Pampa held an early 5-3 lead over West Plains, but the visitors would rattle off 16 unanswered points to take a 19-5 lead. A 3-pointer from Jr. Cambree Dyer would cut the lead to 19-8.   Pampa would be able to close the gap at halftime by a score of 24-15.

The 3rd quarter Pampa would eventually cut the lead to 28-20.  West Plains would extend the lead to end the quarter 36-23.

In the 4th quarter, West Plains would extend the lead to back to 15 points, 40-25.  Pampa would eventually utilize a suffocating full court defense to claw back to within 7 points 48-41. However, that would be as close as Pampa could get and eventually fell by a final score of 55-45.  After being down 19-5 Pampa outscored West Plains 40-36, but the 14-point early deficit was too much to overcome.

Katlyn Magers led the way with 13 points and Cambree Dyer added 10 points for the Lady Harvesters.

Pampa will be on the road Friday as they travel to take on the Randall Lady Raiders, who are currently ranked in the top 10 in the state.
