PAWS-a-tively Adorable: PAWS Open House & Reception

Posted

Altrusa of Pampa will be hosting an Open House and Reception at the Pampa Animal Welfare Society on December 10th from 2 to 4 pm. This event will serve as a wonderful opportunity to aid the shelter animals this holiday season.

Faustina Curry, the President of PAWS, has been with the nonprofit organization since its inception. PAWS started out primarily focusing on the welfare of shelter animals. Curry and her volunteers would take care of the animals to prevent them from being put down. From there, PAWS has expanded to provide for all the medical needs of the animals that reside in the shelter.

The open house is a much welcomed event for the animal shelter. As of now, PAWS has many dogs at the shelter that are in need of owners.

“We have a lot of dogs right now,” Curry said. “We’re hoping the open house brings in people to adopt these dogs. They’re such sweet animals.”

The non-profit organization heavily relies on donations to serve the community and the shelter animals. In the past month, PAWS participated in the delightful Panhandle Gives event. Coordinated by the Amarillo Area Foundation, Panhandle Gives helps raise donations for over 200 nonprofit organizations across the Texas panhandle area. This month in particular, animal food is highly needed for the shelter animals. Dry dog food, Canned dog food with gravy, dry cat food, and kitten pate are the food items requested for donation during the open house. As well, paper towels, cat and dog toys, cheerios, peanut butter, and monetary donations will be welcomed at the event.

Altrusa is an international non-profit geared to businesses and professionals. Altrusa of Pampa actively aids local businesses, professionals, and other non-profits in the community. During the Christmas time, Altrusa does 12 good deeds for the community and PAWS is on their list of deeds. By having their open house at PAWS, both of the organizations will be able to greatly aid animals in need this holiday season.
