Providing a different vibe

Posted

Downtown Pampa has been all abuzz in recent months, and not just with construction and renovations to improve the quality of the area. The highlights have by and far been all of the new businesses that have opened, making use of historic old buildings and giving them new life and purpose. Ate Oh Six is one such business that has recently opened its doors to provide a new dining experience in Pampa.

Despite being the literal new kid on the block, Ate Oh Six has garnered quite a bit of attention from the community, earning three Best-Of awards as voted by the readers of the Pampa News, including the award for Best New Business.

“It’s an overflowing glass,” said owner Abby Cervantes. “You just get to a point where you’re just at a loss of words and it’s just so much gratitude.”

Cervantes feels they had set a high standard for themselves. She knew they wanted to be different and believed that their customer service was where that would start and set them apart.

“I remind these girls all the time it’s about being kind,” said Cervantes. “It’s about treating others how you want to be treated when you go out to eat.”

Ate Oh Six is certainly turning out to be the hottest place in town, as per Cervantes’s design.

“It’s the environment,” said Cervantes. “We have twelve TVs. You can watch any sports. We’re going up and we’re going up pretty fast.”

The owners still have big plans for future expansions and additions to keep their spot in the limelight. They continue to work on getting a sense of what the people want and need. They are making every effort to listen to the community.

“I’ve heard a lot of karaoke, bands, dance floor, pool tables,” Cervantes said. “I’m here to listen. I feel like we’re already something good downtown.”

It would seem that Ate Oh Six has accomplished its main goal, to provide an intimate dining experience that made you not feel as though you weren’t in a small town. Ate Oh Six has passed the vibe check.

“I’m thankful,” said Cervantes. “It’s been a lot of work but God has been good and so has Pampa.”
