You Matter to the Master
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
This past week Vicki and I slipped away to Branson, Mo. We had a great time just resting and listening to some great singing and preaching. It was a time where we were simply able to relax and enjoy all that was taking place.
We went to the Springtime Jubilee at the Welk Resorts Theatre. We got to hear Johnny Hunt, Will Graham (Franklin Graham’s son) and Dennis Swanberg as they shared the Gospel through preaching. We also heard Gold City, Jason Crabb, Lefevre Quartet and the Collingsworth Family as they shared through some wonderful music.
Vicki loved it all but would probably have been happy if the only one we heard was the Collingsworth Family. I will have to say that they are so gifted! Their music is just so wonderful and the songs were shared in such a way that it was a total blessing to all who were there.
I enjoyed it all. From the preaching to the singing to the fellowship it was just a great time. As we gathered in the Welk Resorts Theatre with others it was simply an uplifting time. We met folks from all over who had come to join in this time. I’m truly thankful that Vicki said that we were going to make this trip.
Vicki sang on Sunday morning and sang one of the Collingsworth Family songs – “It Matters to the Master”. It is an amazing song. I want to share the second verse and chorus with you.
“Friend, do you think the Maker and giver of life is far too busy to care about your trouble and strife. He sees the sparrow that falls to the ground and hears the tears that don’t make a sound. If you only knew how precious you are in His sight.”
Chorus: “If it matters to you, it matters to the Master. He wants to share the burdens you bear. Whisper peace when your world gets shattered. If it’s your greatest joy or your deepest pain or you’re really needing an answer, if it matters to you, it matters to the Master.”
Each of us matters to the Master. He loves us right where we are and desires the fullness of life for us. We often feel so alone, struggling with all that goes on and somehow forget that we truly do matter to the Master.
Matthew 10:29-31 says – 29 “Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.”
While we may read this and just let it roll off our tongue, there is a lesson that we must hear. While a sparrow may be sold for a cent, they still are a part of God’s creation and matter to Him. God knows every hair on our head and everything about us. We truly ‘matter to the Master’.
As you go through the coming days you may well be confronted with issues that you would never imagined. You may well feel overwhelmed by all that is going on. It could be an illness, a surgery, a diagnosis or even a death. But please don’t forget you matter to the Master.
He loves you (John 3:16) and desires for you to be at peace even in the midst of all that is going on in your life (John 14:27). Remember those words from the chorus that say – He wants to share the burdens you bear. Whisper peace when your world gets shattered. If it’s your greatest joy or your deepest pain or you’re really needing an answer, if it matters to you, it matters to the Master.
So don’t forget -- God loves you and you matter to the Master.
JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!!
Christ only, always,
