Pampa Chamber gearing up for holiday seasons
As the holiday season is just around the corner, the Pampa Chamber of Commerce has a series of fun contests and more coming up to celebrate.
The Pampa Chamber of Commerce’s Whoville Christmas Parade will be held on Dec. 5, and entries are already filing in for the annual event.
“I’m so excited about this,” Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Shawna Elliott said. “We’ve already got 10 entries, which is unusual for a parade this early. Out of those 10, five are floats.”
The throwing of candy will not be allowed, unfortunately, but the Dr. Seuss theme opens the door for a lot of creativity. Lining up for the parade will be at 1 p.m. and the parade starts at 2 p.m.
“I wanted to do the Whoville theme,” Elliott said. “Every year in January I start thinking about my theme for the Christmas parade. With the way things happened this year, the whole ‘Grinch Stole Christmas’ is how 2020 stole our year. We will do the Whoville Christmas to bring back a little spirit and excitement.”
Santa Claus himself will be at the parade at the tail end of the event.
Adding to the fun, all the Pampans in “Pampaville” can take part in the Christmas season and enjoy being a part of the house decorating contest.
“Give us the address by Dec. 13 and the Goldcoats can drive around that weekend and send me the tallies,” Elliott said. “We will have a Best Overall Prize, a Most Creative and a Most Outlandish.”
All of the prizes for both the parade and house-decorating contest will be awarded in Pampa bucks, keeping the money local in Pampa.
“We want to keep everything in the community,” Elliott said.
There is also a Louis Vuitton purse raffle, tickets are $20 for one or six/$100.
“The purse itself is $1,700 and we have several businesses that have donated items,” Elliott said. “Together, the package is well over $2,000. Your $100 investment goes a long way.”
Raffle tickets will be sold through Dec. 9 with the winner being announced through Facebook live.
