Mona Jennings Freeman Memorial Scholarship held recently
The Third Annual Golf Tournament for the Mona Jennings Freeman Memorial Scholarship was this past weekend Aug. 8, 2020. The weather was quite nice, a little windy for a golfer’s preference but you could not tell it by the team scores.
Once again, the tournament was a huge success. This tournament was our best turn out yet, only lacking 5 times from being completely full. There were 19 teams in the morning flight, and 16 teams in the afternoon flight. Thank you to our many family & friends who helped with registration, organization, and being there for our every need. We could not do it without all the love and support, and we are forever grateful.
Alongside the tournament entry fees was a Silent Auction, Mo Memorial T-shirt sales, Hole-Sponsorships, and the 50/50 Raffle. The Mo Memorial will be offering scholarships to the following schools in the spring: White Deer, Pampa, Borger, Canadian, Highland Park, Shamrock and Wheeler. These are the schools where Mona taught, played golf or attended. We look forward to giving back to the future students in these communities.
The first year we gave 10 $1,400 scholarships to the seniors of 2018-2019. Last year we were able to give 14 $1,200 scholarships to the seniors of 2019-2020. We cannot wait to see how many we get to give to the 2020-2021 seniors.
None of this would have been possible without the golfers, helpers, hole sponsors, & donors. Thank you to all the teams who entered, and we look forward to seeing ya’ll next year!
