Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Highland Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Greenwood Funeral Homes and Cremation of Fort Worth Tx.
Joy was born February 25, 1932 in Weinert, Texas to parents David and Lorene Lewis. She graduated from Paschal High School in Fort Worth in 1950. Joy married Archie Fletcher Evans on June 15, 1951. They would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary before Archie passed away May 2, 2017.
Joy was a lifelong member of South Hills Baptist Church until moving to Pampa, Texas in 2019. She found her new church family at Highland Baptist Church in Pampa.
After spending many years working at Striplings as an assistant to the buyer, Joy went to work for Ewell’s Automotive where she retired.
Joy loved baseball and was an avid Texas Rangers fan. She was thrilled when she had the opportunity to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame with her granddaughter Beth. Knowing her love of baseball her kids got her a limo ride to see a Yankee’s game the last season they played in the Bronx.
She loved to read, she loved cats and she especially loved her family. Her grandchildren have fond memories of spending time with MeMa and PaPa. They also loved when she baked cookies and made her mint chocolate fudge and peanut brittle. She is survived by sons Archie David Evans and Bobby Evans (wife Kathy) and daughters Kay Conforti, JoAnn Evans, and Susan Gingras (Steve), 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
