Lois Marie Simon

Lois Marie Simon, 86, of Pampa, passed away October 8, 2020 at her home in Pampa.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 12, 2020 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Taylor Elzner, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 PM, Monday, October 12, 2020 at Clinton City Cemetery in Clinton, Oklahoma under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Lois was born on September 18, 1934 in Foss, Oklahoma to Aileene and Ernest Dippel. She grew up and attended school in Oklahoma at both Foss and Stafford and graduated from Stafford High School. After high school, she enrolled in college and she left college early but later returned to earn her degree and became an educator.  She met Eugene John Simon and they married on February 14, 1955. They shared several good years and later parted ways, but they remained friends. She taught school in Butler, Oklahoma for two years and then came to Pampa in 1975 and taught school for another 40 years in Pampa, retiring in 2007.
Education was an important theme in her life and Lois was proud to have influenced three generations of children. Lois was a member of several different teaching and educational organizations that included National Education Association, Texas State Teachers Association, Texas Classroom Teachers Association, and the Pampa Classroom Teachers Association. She attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
In her spare time, she loved to collect clothes, purses, and jewelry. But what was most important to her was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her brother, Charles Erwin Dippel.
Her survivors include her two daughters, Cindy Clark and husband David of Amarillo and Cheryl Courtney and husband Chad of Grand Prairie; two sons, John Michael Simon and Matthew Simon, both of Amarillo; four granddaughters, Casey Teague and husband Aaron of Amarillo, Lindsey Driver and husband Cory, and Shelby Courtney, all of Lubbock, and Chelsea Bruce and husband Dustin of Amarillo; two grandsons, Donny Clark and wife Sarah of Ft. Worth and Matthew Blake Simon of Amarillo; six great-grandchildren; her former husband, Eugene John Simon of Elk City, Oklahoma; and numerous other extended family.
