Michael Dean “Mike” Whisenhunt
Michael Dean “Mike” Whisenhunt, 60 years old, of Pampa, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at his home. He was born on April 6, 1960 to Willie Ray Whisenhunt and Barbara Preas in Perryton, Texas.
Mike was the first-born of four children. He had an immense love for his mother and knew he could rely on her for anything. Family was of great importance to Mike and he longed to be involved with them as his dependency would allow. Just as many others, he battled demons, but regardless, he had a kind and loving heart. Mike was a talented carpenter and artist which was evident through his western drawings on cow skulls, drawings and in the beautiful furniture he designed. The most cherished piece of furniture he created was a cedar chest that sits at the foot of his mother’s bed. Mike could always find the beauty in vintage items and enjoyed collecting and filling his home with antiques. Mike will be greatly missed by all of those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father and two grandmothers, Maurice Roper and Jessie Smith.
Michael left behind to carry on his memory, his mother, Barbara Preas and husband Glen of Pampa; a son Tobbey Preas of Lefors; a daughter, Amy Cole of Pampa; three brothers, Wes Heiskell and wife Alicia of Houston, Kevin Heiskell and wife Chantelle of Iowa, Keith Heiskell and wife Kim of Stinnett; two grandsons, Korbin Cole, Spencer Cole; special friend and companion, Connie; close friends, Steve Harris (whom cared for him throughout his illness), Candyce Brown, Journey Mundele, Justin Smith, Shelly Swindle, Kristi Balay, Kelly Balay and Sharon Mack as well as numerous extended family members.
Per family wishes, no services are scheduled at this time. The family has entrusted the cremation care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.
