Rodney Dean DeFever
Rodney Dean DeFever, 79, of Amarillo, passed away, October 18, 2020 in Amarillo.
Graveside services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, October 23, 2020 in Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Bob Miller, pastor of Crossroads Country Church of Amarillo, officiating. Burial and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Rodney was born June 22, 1941 In Hereford to M.L. and Della DeFever. He graduated from White Deer High School in 1959 and then attended West Texas State University. Rodney began working in the computer industry during his early years. He spent his entire career in data processing for several companies including IBM and ALCOA. After his retirement he built and operated the Lonesome Dove RV Resort in Del Rio, Texas for many years. Rodney was an avid golfer and formed many lifetime friendships through the game he loved.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Derran DeFever; a brother, Dewayne DeFever; and a grandson, Will Vise.
Rodney is survived by a daughter, Lisa Clark and husband Eric of Peoria, Illinois; a son, Lance DeFever and wife Brooke of Pampa; a brother, Larry DeFever of Amarillo; 3 grandsons, Reed DeFever of Carrolton, Spencer DeFever of McKinney, and Ethan DeFever and wife Aubrey of Pampa; a great-granddaughter, Madelain of McKinney; a great-grandson, Blayke of the Woodlands; 3 nephews, Greg DeFever of Lubbock, Dirk DeFever of Amarillo, and Dee DeFever of Wichita, Kansas; 2 cousins, Malinda Ketchersid and husband Brad of Wichita, Kansas, and Carol Jean Dennett and husband Gene of Augusta, Kansas.
