Motorcycle-rider killed in Wheeler County collision
A motorcycle-rider from Shamrock was killed in a Wheeler County collision on Monday afternoon north of Shamrock.
At 4:30 p.m. Monday, Robert Miles, 61, Shamrock, was driving north on County Road 19 on his 1995 Harley Davidson motorcyle.
A 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by Shana Reeves, 36, Wheeler, was driving east on Farm-to-Market Road 1906.
According to Texas DPS’ report, the driver of the motorcyle failed to yield right of way to the Hyundai at the intersection of FM 1906 and CR 19 and struck the vehicle.
The Hyundai rolled over onto its roof and came to rest in the north ditch while the motorcycle came to a rest near the Hyundai in the north ditch.
Miles was pronounced deceased on the scene by Justice of the Peace, Rick Walden.
Reeves and an 18-year-old passenger, Kiera Hurtaell, 18, Wheeler, were transported to Parkview Hospital. Reeves had serious injuries.
Miles didn’t have a helmet and Hurtaell was not secured with a seat-belt. Reeves and three passengers, ages two to 15 years old, were secured with a seatbelt.
The crash remains under investigation. Information may change, be corrected, or added based on the investigators findings.
