Canyon’s seven-run sixth inning halts Pampa rally
CANYON — The Pampa Harvesters (10-8-1, 2-3) finished their first round of District play on Tuesday when they traveled to Canyon.
The Eagles had a seven-run sixth inning, putting an end to any comeback hopes the Harvesters had.
The Eagles had taken a 4-0 lead heading into the top of the fourth before junior Sam Anguiano hit a two-out double to bring home junior Armando Miranda.
In the top the fifth, junior Rhett Hill hit a double followed by a walk from junior Troy Perez. Hill later scored on a Canyon error to close the gap to two runs.
After junior Hunter Dyer drew a walk, Miranda hit a two-out single to bring the tying run on. Senior Cayden Stout later hit a ground ball to bring Dyer home and make it a 4-3 ball game.
Canyon got one run back in the bottom of the fifth and it was 5-3 Eagles. The Eagles went on to score seven runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a staggering 12-3 lead.
In the top of the seventh, Miranda took a pitch to get on base with one out. Senior Nolan Groomer hit a two-out double to bring Miranda home, but it was too little, too late and Canyon went on to win 12-4.
The Harvesters return to action on Tuesday, April 13, when they host Dumas to start round two of District play. Game time is at 5 p.m.
Armando Miranda pitched five innings with 12 hits, nine runs, seven earned runs, two strikeouts and a walk. Nolan Groomer pitched one inning with two strikeouts and two walks. Rhett Hill pitched 15 throws with one hit, three runs, three earned runs and two walks.

Pampa had four runs off six hits and three errors; Canyon had 12 runs off 13 hits and one error.
Lady Harvesters fall in tight contest with Canyon 2-1
