Glo-Valve beats Flogistix 15-2

The Glo-Valve Service Dodgers banged 14 hits, 10 for extra bases, to batter the Flogistix Rex Sox 15-2 Monday to take sole possession of first place in Pampa Optimist 11-12 Cal Ripken League action. Evan Orand and Carter McLaughlin combined for a no-hitter.

Orand was the winning pitcher allowing no earned runs in two innings. He walked two and struck out two. McLaughlin earned a three-inning save striking out nine and not walking a batter. Rhyan Elliff pitched for Flogistix.

Glo-Valve jumped out to a two-run lead in the top of the first inning on a double by Orand, a run-scoring single by Gage Turner and a double by McLaughlin that scored Turner. Flogistix came back to tie the score after a walk to Elliff and an error on a ball hit by Kamden Snelgrooes. Another Glo-Valve error and a wild pitch made it 2-2 after an inning.

The winners took control in the second inning batting their entire 11 man lineup. With one out Trip Clark singled to start the rally. He stole second. He went to third when an attempted pickoff went into center field. He came in to break the tie when Hagen Hudson was safe on an error. Hudson stole second and third. He tallied when Waylon Huffman singled and advanced to second on a throwing error. Kale Doss brought Huffman home with a double. A steal of third and a Flogistix’ error on a ball hit by Nate Haynes plated Doss. Haynes scored on Orand’s second double. Turner kept the rally going by drawing a walk. McLaughlin was safe on an error permitting Orand to come home and give Glo-Valve an 8-2 lead.

Glo-Valve put the game away in the top of the fifth inning scoring seven times. Haynes double. Orand tripled. Turner and McLaughlin had back-to-back doubles. A bad throw put Tristen Shackelford on base. Aiden Hammond singled. Clark was safe on a fielder’s choice. Hudson had a RBI double. Robert Kreyling was safe on a fielder’s choice and Huffman was safe on an error as 10 players in a row reached base safely. 

Travis Williams had one of the best defensive plays of the game for Flogistix as he snagged a fly ball in left field to record the first out of the game. Cy LeBlanc gunned down a runner trying to steal second for another Flogistix’ defensive gem. Doss threw to Turner at third to get a caught stealing for Glo-Valve’s top defensive play. Orand made several short hop pickups at first for Glo-Valve.

Oran, with two doubles and a triple, was the leading hitter in the game. Turner, McLaughlin and Clark had two-hits each.

Flogistix will be back in action at 6:30 p.m. Friday being hosted by Lefors.
