Lady Harvesters fall to No. 18 Hereford

The Pampa Lady Harvesters (1-3) hosted the No. 18 Hereford Lady Whitefaces on Friday evening. The Lady Whitefaces held Pampa to 17 points en route to the 51-17 victory. “We knew coming in this was a good team and I told them ahead of time and the same as Tuesday,” Head Coach Jared Messer said. “At halftime we had a pretty intense talk because at this point in our development I’m not concerned with what Hereford is doing. I felt like we didn’t go out and compete the same way we did against Borger and Perryton. If you don’t compete, you can’t expect good things to happen to you regardless of who you’re playing. They responded to it in the second half and played harder.” The Lady Harvesters will travel to No. 2 Canyon on Tuesday to finish off the first round of District 4-4A action. Game-time is at 6 p.m. “It’s no secret that if Canyon isn’t the best team in the state, they are one of the best teams in the state,” Messer said. “That’s going to be tough for us but we’ve played some good teams and are used to the competition. The biggest thing for me is for them to compete and I want them to focus on competing. If we do that, then we can walk away with something positive.”
