Late rally pushes Pampa past Perryton 9-5
PERRYTON — The Pampa Harvesters (13-9-1, 5-4) traveled to Perryton on Saturday afternoon for a District match-up.
Trailing 5-3 in the top of the sixth, the Harvesters’ rally started when junior Troy Perez and senior Damian Anguiano reached on a pair of base hits. Junior Hunter Dyer bunted and reached on a Perrtyon error to load the bases. Junior Armando Miranda hit a double to center field to give Pampa the 6-5 lead.
The Harvesters gave themselves some cushion in the top of the seventh when junior Cayson Steward hit a one out single, followed by junior Rhett Hill took a pitch to reach. With two outs and two on, senior Anguiano hit a fly and reached on an error, Perez (who reached on a fielder’s choice earlier in the frame) and pinch-runner senior Jacobi Carroll scored.
Dyer drew a walk to load the bases, setting the stage for another Miranda RBI single to give Pampa the four-run, 9-5 lead.
The Harvesters return to action Tuesday when they host Canyon for one final home game. Game time is at 5 p.m.
Hunter Nichols started on the mound for Pampa, he went 4 innings with three hits, five runs, five earned runs, five strikeouts and four walks; Nolan Groomer went 1.1 inning with three hits and two strikeouts; Tyler Reed went 1.2 innings with a hit and three Ks.
Armando Miranda went 2-5 with four RBI and a double; Cayden Stout went 1-5 with a run scored; Sam Anguiano drew two walks, had two stolen bases and a run scored; Cayson Steward went 3-3 with a run scored, a double, a RBI, a stolen base and a walk; Jacobi Carroll had a run scored; Rhett Hill was hit by two pitches; Troy Perez went 2-4 with two runs scored and a RBI; Damian Anguiano went 1-4 with two runs scored; Hunter Dyer drew a walk and had a run scored.
Pampa scored nine runs on nine hits and had no errors; Perryton scored five runs with seven hits and three errors.
