Pampa’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be hosting its 2nd annual Golf Scramble on June 3rd. From 9:00 am and onward, enjoy a day filled with family-friendly fun at the Pampa Country Club.

Pampa’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s is a nonprofit organization filled with volunteers whose main goal is to raise funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research.

The core organizers of the organization, Jacqueline Braddock, Kathryn Campbell, Elizabeth Day, and Stephanie Nelson, gave more information about the upcoming golf scramble.

“This is our second time hosting the golf scramble,” Nelson said. “Last year, we thought it would be a good opportunity to raise money. It turned out to be a big hit.”

“We had a total of 128 players last year,” Campbell said. “We had a great turnout of golfers, volunteers, and people who showed up to have a good time.”

Golf teams consisting of 4 players can register with the Pampa Country Club. The fee is $80 per person which includes lunch, cart, and prizes. The deadline to register is Friday, June 2nd.

There will be a shotgun start, putting green, and driving range activities.

Campbell gave more insight into the fundraising opportunities available at the golf scramble.

“It’s an 18-hole game but we make it fun,” Campbell said. “We are seeking organizations to sponsor each hole on the green. Sponsors, like sports teams or school organizations, can have their fundraising event and theme at their sponsored hole.”

“For new sponsors, they must submit their paperwork to us by next week,” Nelson said. “For sponsors who have worked with us in the past, we already have their paperwork so it is just a matter of contacting us again.”

Golfers who sign up can expect swag bags filled with golf-themed goodies like golf tees, golf balls, and koozies.

“We are working on prizes for the golfers and trying to find big ticket raffle items,” Campbell said. “We will sell raffle tickets the day of the event and will draw for the raffle prizes during the Fall.”

Braddock highlighted T-Shirts & More for the support they have given the nonprofit organization.

“Kaleb has worked with us for  three years now. He’s worked hard with us. He has made our banners, shirts, and flags,” Braddock said.

“Kaleb helped us plan the first golf scramble last year,” Nelson said. “He’s had previous experience with this and he gave us advice on how to run it.”

As well, Hero Program, a non-profit organization that specializes in hosting charity golf events, will also be attending the golf scramble.

Campbell gave special thanks to the Cody Owens Memorial Foundation. The foundation honors Owens by raising funds to be used in areas that he cared about the most.

“None of our events would be able to happen without the partnership of Cody Owens Memorial Foundation,” Campbell said.

The golf scramble is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and raise awareness for Alzheimer’s.

“To bring awareness of Alzheimer’s in this area and bringing it a different way, we can connect with so many different people,” Campbell said.

“I’m looking forward to having fun,” Braddock said. “With our Walk in the Fall, that event mainly focuses on education and assistance of Alzheimer’s. With the golf scramble, this event is centered on entertainment as well as education.”

“Pampa as a community, is the most supportive community I have been in,” Nelson said. “They come out and show up for fundraising opportunities, for anything like this. It’s a great community to be in.”
