Ana Steele, 61, of Pampa, passed away with her husband by her side on Monday, June 5, 2023 in Amarillo.

Services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 9, 2023 at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Willard Kiper, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Ana was born on July 11, 1961 in Lisbon, Portugal to Felipe Antonio Rodriguez das Neves and Filomena Rose de Albuquerque das Neves. She graduated from school in Lisbon. After graduation she moved to Cascais, Portugal. She worked for the European Union for several years, moving to Strasbourg, France and Luxembourg, Luxembourg. Ana traveled all over Europe for several years before she met the love of her life, Preston Steele. Preston also spent some time traveling Europe until he met Ana. They were married in September of 2000 in Cascais. They moved to Pampa in November of 2000. After moving to Pampa, Ana began working for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as an administrative assistant to the warden. She retired in July of 2021.

Ana spoke fluent English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese. She enjoyed working in her yard, studying Egyptology, and during her younger years, traveling. Ana was a fan of only two kinds of music, classical and country western.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Felipe and Filomena das Neves.

Ana is survived by her husband, Preston Steele; three stepdaughters, Rachel Mize, Amanda Steele, and Olivia Tosti, and one brother, Rui Sousa and his wife Cris d’ Albuquerque Sousa.
