Downtown Wings: New Location, Same Great Wings and Service

Downtown Wings in Pampa has recently opened up a bigger location to accomodate their supportive and ever-growing customer base.

First opening their doors in February of this year, Kenneth Herrera and Berenice Solis never expected their new restaurant’s success to explode in such a short amount of time.

“We had a vision to try to grow, but we never thought we would grow that fast,” Kenneth said. “We’ve been very lucky with this community.”

Downtown Wings offers something unique in Pampa, with its high-quality restaurant food and service in a relaxed and family-friendly environment, giving it that local, hometown feel.

Not to be confused with a sports bar nor a version of popular wing restaurant chains, Downtown Wings stands on its own and appeals to the people and their palates as every sauce, spice and recipe is made from scratch in-house by the owners themselves.

With televisions playing the latest sports throughout the restaurant and a menu that would keep the customers coming back for more, it didn’t take long for the dining room to fill up in their previous location, prompting Kenneth and Berenice to set their sights on the vacant building just right down the street.

Previously The Green Patch, the establishment has stood vacant for more than five years, untouched and previously renovated by the former restaurant’s owners, only for it to close less than a year after its opening.

Because the building itself had already undergone renovation and there was very little wear and tear to the interior, Kenneth and Berenice felt like they had hit the jackpot as there were no major repairs or remodeling to complete before opening.

“We had no idea it existed. I grew up here, but I had moved to Dallas and when I moved back, I thought it was still a bar,” Berenice laughed. “He started looking into it and it was just here, like God had reserved it for us.”

While the structure and layout of the building was still in really good condition, aside for some deep cleaning, Kenneth says he still has a lot of work to do to fulfill the vision he has for it.

Along with a bigger location comes a bigger menu, a venture that Kenneth and Berenice look forward to sharing once everything is settled and complete and they add more members to their staff.

Customers can take advantage of the daily specials that Downtown Wings offers, from discounted combos Monday through Thursday to discounts for first responders, city workers and personnel, Pampa ISD employees and veterans every day.

While Downtown Wings is in the process of obtaining their liquor license, they are offering free beer in the meantime with the limit of two per person.

Once they have their license, Kenneth and Berenice plan to open a full bar, serving only the finest Texas-made craft beer, bourbon and whiskey along with 20 different flavors of margaritas.

But Kenneth does not want to be classified as a ‘sports bar.’

“I want people to see us as family-friendly and not a bar. We want people to see us as a nice restaurant with a fancy bar,” he said.

Downtown Wings is now located at 413 W. Foster and are open Monday through Saturday from 11 AM to 9 PM and Sundays from 11 to 3.
