PAMPA (FEB. 12, 2024) – The Salvation Army of Pampa and Borger met at Toot N’ Totum in Pampa this morning to receive the fruits of one year’s worth of donations from local Toot N’ Totum customers.

“Last year, we did a more traditional bucket approach. This year, using new technology, we were able to ask each and every guest (at Toot N’ Totum stores) whether they wanted to round up their purchase to the next dollar and donate the change,” said John Lutz, Vice President of Fuel and Market for Toot N’ Totum.

“The monies that were raised this year in total from the stores all the way up from Lubbock into Kansas, totaled $144,000. (It) was a substantial amount, and we’re just so grateful to our guests. I think it’s a reflection of people’s generosity,” He said.

The total amount of the $144,000 raised that will be dedicated to our local Pampa and Borger region was $21,332.12.

Shelby Huff of the Salvation Army of Pampa was overwhelmed with gratitude for Toot N’ Totum’s Customers.

“We are here because of the wonderful customers that rounded up their transactions to (the next) whole dollar. Just a few cents here and there has raised over 144,000 for the Panhandle for the Salvation Army. $21,000 of that is coming to our region, and that’s going to include Borger and some of the smaller communities of the Salvation Army.”

Huff plans to use Pampa’s portion of the funds for emergency disaster services and financial assistance such as rental assistance and utility assistance.

Annie Olsen of the Salvation Army of Borger was equally enthusastic to share what she would be spending her region’s portion of the funds on.

“In Borger, we have a food pantry, a caring closet, and we do emergency shelters, so that’s where (our) funds will go.”

The Salvation Army of Pampa is a recipient of United Way Funds.
