Zach Thomas Jersey Tribute

Posted

Every Friday evening in the fall you will see a player wearing the #32. This number is special in Pampa Football history as it is the jersey number worn by Pro Football Hall of Fame member, Zach Thomas. As a tribute to Zach, the Pampa High School football program will be removing the #32 from the jersey circulation. From this day forward, the jersey #32 will be worn every Friday night by a different individual. That individual embodies that competitive spirit which Zach Thomas displayed every Friday night in the fall. The individual will be voted on and selected by the coaching staff.

The first individual who will wear the #32 against Plainview on Friday night is Christian Davalos. He is a senior linebacker and running back. He is also the son of Floyd and Amber White, the Pampa Head Coach. Normally, he wears the #14 but for one Friday night during his senior year he will wear the #32.

Davalos recorded nine solo tackles and seven assisted tackles for a total of 16 tackles on Friday against Iowa Park. One of those was also a tackle for a loss on the play. He also rushed eight times for 39 yards on the offensive side of the ball, which is good for 4.8 yards per carry. He is proving to be a vital part of this Harvester team.

“It feels like a responsibility to me to be selected. I take it pretty seriously and I am proud to do it and glad can be an example. That is what I really want to do is be an example,” Davalos said. “The people here are what makes Pampa and being a Pampa Harvester great. It is the people who guide me and push me to be better. They make me want to make myself better as a person.”

Davalos’ favorite subject is his dual credit class. He enjoys riding bicycles, shooting guns and hunting in his free time. He does not know where he wants to go to college yet but he does want to do Electrical Engineering in his future.
