Georgia Maxine Blanscet, formerly of Pampa, died Saturday, February 18, 2023, in Carrollton, Texas, just 15 days following her 91st birthday.
Services will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 25, 2023, at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Robert Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
A visitation will be held at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors on Friday evening, February 24, 2023, from 5:30 to 6:30 PM.
Georgia was born in Ozark, Arkansas, on February 3, 1932. She was raised in western Arkansas near Fort Smith, first around Ozark, and later around Lavaca, where she graduated from high school as her class salutatorian. She lived most of her adult life in Pampa, but the family previously lived in Sunray, Texas, and Liberal, Kansas, before settling in Pampa in 1968. Pampa was then her home until she and her late husband of 66 years, Roy, moved to Irving, Texas, in 2014 to be near their sons and their families residing nearby. Her final days were spent in a care facility in Carrollton, Texas, under the watchful eyes of her two sons and their families.
Throughout their time in Pampa, she and Roy were faithful and active members of Highland Baptist Church and, later, Hobart Baptist Church until their move to Irving, where she later transferred her church membership to MacArthur Boulevard Baptist Church.
Georgia exhibited a quiet, Godly spirit, and she was a textbook example of an industrious and organized homemaker and family caretaker. She took special pride in remaining at home to raise her family, in serving as a devoted help-mate to her late husband, and in attending her sons’ school activities, Little League games, and church events. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved God above all and who adored her family. And her family loved her in return.
Georgia is survived by her two sons, Gary Blanscet and wife Janet of Carrollton, Texas, and Glen Blanscet and wife Becky of Prosper, Texas; five grandchildren, Matthew Blanscet of Anna, Texas, Jonathan Blanscet and wife Leslie of Houston, Texas, Zachary Blanscet and wife Melanie of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jenna Bolerjack and husband Blake of Midwest City, Oklahoma, and Mark Blanscet and wife Meagan of Prosper, Texas; five great-grandchildren, June and Catherine Blanscet of Houston, Texas, and Kaden, Luke, and Mia Blanscet of Prosper, Texas. Georgia was also blessed to have a grandson by marriage, Jeffrey Powell and wife Michelle of McKinney, Texas; a granddaughter by marriage, Allison Smith and husband Ryan of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and five great-grandchildren by marriage, Claire, Lily, and Gavin Powell of McKinney, Texas, and Kelen and London Smith of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
