James Max Gillpatrick, 83, of Pampa, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.
No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
James was born on March 21, 1939 in Sayre, Oklahoma to James Matthew Gillpatrick and Johnnie Katherine Greer Gillpatrick. He attended school and was 1957 graduate of Pampa High School. James enlisted the United States Navy after graduation. After his time in the Navy, James attended Oklahoma State University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Forestry Sciences. James then began his career as a computer engineer with IBM. He moved to Houston where he resided for several years before moving back to Pampa in the late 90’s.
James enjoyed fishing, making model airplanes, golfing, playing tennis, and learning to play multiple instruments. He loved spending time with his family and friends. James was a member of the Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Cary Lind Gillpatrick and Jon Loren Gillpatrick.
James is survived by his two sisters, Koell McKay of Pampa and Gail Moore and husband Glenn of Tulsa; his adopted grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Doug and Sheila Bud.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses from Interim Hospice that took excellent care of James.
