LaMoyne Thomas “Tom” McKay, 84, of Pampa, passed away on October 1, 2024 in Pampa.

Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, October 7, 2024 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Ed Sattesahn, pastor of First Assembly of God Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Tom was born April 7, 1940 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma to Roy and Alice McKay. He graduated from Sayre High School in Sayre, Oklahoma in 1958.

He enlisted in the National Guard right out of high school and served for six years before he was honorably discharged. 

He married the love of his life, JoAnn Gattis, on May 24, 1959 in Pampa. They celebrated 64 years of marriage before she passed away on June 30, 2023.

Tom began working at Ideal Grocery at an early age and continued there for about 10 years. 

In 1968, he went to work at Phillip and worked faithfully for over 30 years. After he retired, he continued to work part time jobs NOV as security, United Deli, and Panhandle Transit. 

Tom was a longtime member of First Assembly of God Church where he served as a deacon for many years.

He was an avid OU fan and enjoyed listening to games on the radio. Tom also loved the Brooklyn/LA Dodgers and the Dallas Cowboys. 

When he was younger, he was an avid reader, especially Louis L’Amour Western books.

Tom also was faithful in reading and understanding the Bible.

Tom loved his family and had the happiest of marriages. He taught his children how to love and provide for his family. He was the rock of the McKay family and will be missed dearly.

Preceded in death by his parents; his wife, JoAnn; brother, Henry McKay; sister, Rachel Robinson, daughter, Linda Ellis; and grandson, Cody Ellis; granddaughter, JoAnn “JoJo” Morehart.

Survivors include one daughters Rhonda Morehart and husband John of Pampa; son, Bobby McKay and wife Leyla of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; one brother, Gerald McKay and wife Dolores of Borger; sister, Jean Seebree of Sayre, Oklahoma; two brothers-in-law, Richard Gattis of Pampa and Ronnie Gattis of Jasper, Texas; sister, Shirley Hutchinson and husband Dewey of Pampa; four grandchildren, Ricky Morehart and wife Ashley of Fate, Texas, Dylan Ellis and wife Jessica of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Chayce McKay Glenn and Logan Glenn of Collinsville, Oklahoma, and Karson McKay of Colorado Springs, Colorado; seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
