Dale Butler, 97, of Amarillo and formerly of Pampa, passed away on July 14, 2024, in Amarillo.

Services will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 18, 2024, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Jeremy Buck of Redeemer Pampa, officiating, and Rev. Byron Williamson of First Baptist Church, assisting. 

Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Dale’s service will be live streamed through the funeral home’s website.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Dale was born on September 12, 1926, in Granbury to Asa and Hilda Butler.

As a young boy his family moved to Lubbock for a short time before they settled in Pampa. After completing high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, honorably serving during World War II. 

Following his service to his country, Dale returned to Texas where he started his long career in the oil & gas industry. He had a short stint in the Odessa and Midland area before taking a position at Skelly Oil Company, later retiring from Texaco.

Dale was fortunate to find love and companionship in his life. In 1947, he married Jeanie Stone, and they would have one son, Gary. Jeanie would pass away in 1949. 

He found love again when he married June Brown in 1954, and they had two children, Steve and Valerie, and they shared 48 years of marriage before her passing in 2002. 

Dale found companionship once more when he met Joyce Turlington at church, and they married in 2005. Joyce would precede him in death in 2018.

Dale was a devout Christian man who was a former member of Hobart Baptist Church and a long-time current member of First Baptist Church. 

He served in various capacities that included the youth group, teaching bible study, and helping with the men’s group. Dale will be remembered as a hard-working man who provided a strong Christian example to his children, family, and all those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his three wives; brother, Kenneth Butler; and a sister, Lou Ella Culpepper.

Dale is survived by a daughter, Valerie Felton and husband Sid of Amarillo; two sons, Gary Butler and wife Connie of Booker, and Steve Butler and wife Joy of Amarillo; grandchildren, Jeff Butler and wife Wendy of Amarillo, Jenny Skoff and husband Dan of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Kristi Butler of Amarillo, Clint Felton and wife Jenny of Amarillo, Marissa Felton of Amarillo, and Aubrey Felton of Amarillo; five greatgrandchildren, Luke Butler, Corbin Butler, Ella Butler, Cade Skoff, and Callie Skoff; two nephews, Kenny Butler and wife Martha of Wheeler, and Bobby Culpepper and wife Pam of Denton; a niece, Barbara Kelso and husband Doyle of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and other extended family.
