Jackie Lynn (Furnish) Sublett, age 66, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 15, 2024.

Memorial graveside service will be 2:00 PM Friday, September 27, 2024 at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Norman Rushing officiating.

Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Jackie was born in Pampa, on October 25, 1957, to her parents, Jack and Clara Furnish. She grew up and attended school just off the Navajo Nation and thrived in the iconic red mesas and buttes of Arizona. She found great joy in riding and barrel racing her horse, “Sissy” and all aspects of Dine culture.

Her family moved back to Pampa where she completed her senior year with the graduating class of 1976.

Jackie began her lifelong career in nursing as an aide while still in high school and went on to obtain her Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in 1977 from Frank Phillips College in Borger. She continued her education and earned her Registered Nurse (RN) in 1991 from Amarillo College, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 2010 and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in 2014, both from West Texas A & M University in Canyon.

Through her over 40 years of dedicated service to the field of nursing, Jackie worked at Highland General Hospital and Coronado Hospital, Pampa, in direct patient care, Frank Phillips College, West Texas A & M University, and Clarendon College in education, direction, and program development, the Texas State Board of Nursing and, in her free time, wrote exam questions for standardized testing.

Jackie married Paul Sublett in 1981 and together, had one son, Kip Aaron Sublett in June 1996.

She had a love for animals, antiques, roadside fruit stands, her Mama’s cheesecake and Navajo tacos. She was a fierce advocate for justice and a force to be reckoned with.

Her spirit of excellence lives on in the hearts, minds, and actions of her former students, friends, and family. She cut a wide swath of influence within her family and the medical community alike, and while she will be missed greatly, we are comforted knowing that she is now reunited with her parents and son, reliving the “perfect day” of fish fries with our extended family at Grandma’s old pink house, in Neches, Texas.

2 Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Kip Aaron Sublett.

Survivors include her sister, Deana Furnish Hartshorn and husband Clendon of Flagler Beach, Florida; brother, Jay Furnish and wife Karen of Pampa; nieces, Alisha Bailey and husband Matt and Chelsea Malone all of Pampa; nephew, Tanner Malone of Pampa; great nieces and nephews, Tate Bailey, Savannah Armstrong, Logan Bailey, Ethan Bailey, and Waylin Boaz; and two stepsons, Clifton Sublett of Hydro, Oklahoma and Jeremy Sublett of Yukon, Oklahoma; close friends, Mia Hunter and Dana Gee and numerous other friends, extended family, and colleagues.
