Jay “Jaybird” Louden, 70, of Pampa, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024 in Amarillo.

Memorial services will be at 4:00 PM on Monday, July 1, 2024 at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor at the First Baptist Church, officiating. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Jay will be available for viewing on Monday, July 1, 2024 at the funeral home from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Jay was born on June 25, 1954 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Bert and Betty Hesson Louden. He was raised in Michigan. 

Jay moved to Pampa in the early 1980’s. He worked at Celanese and other plants for several years until he earned his CDL in 1998. Jay worked as a truck driver for several years until his retirement. 

After retiring, Jay enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and going on fishing trips in east Texas. He also enjoyed watching westerns. 

Jay could usually be found with his close friends at one of their usual hangout spots, either the Other Corner Bar or the Hideaway. 

He was a fun-loving guy that will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Betty Louden; and one brother, John Louden.

Jay is survived by his son, Nick Platt and wife Rosemary of Tyler; six grandchildren, Breeanna Martinez and husband Matthew, Nicholas Platt, Rylie Platt, Eli Susa, Charlotte Platt, and Emma Joy Platt; three great-grandchildren, Abigail Martinez, Elijah Martinez, Cole Platt, and one on the way, Eloise Martinez; five siblings, Nancy, Suzie, Kathy, George, and Rusty; and his close friends, Terri Jenkins, Troi Day, and Rodney Day.
