Jimma Joy (Garrett) Crossman went to be with the Lord on September 29, 2024, at the age of 84 years.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the First Methodist Church in Pampa, with Rev. Robin Gantz and Rev. Jarrod Neal officiating. A Family visitation will follow the service.

Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Jimma was born in Pampa, Gray County, Texas on July 9, 1940, to James (Jim) Francis Garrett and Madaline Dicie Garrett. She graduated from Pampa Sr High School in 1958.

She married the love of her life, Gabe Wells Crossman, on July 16, 1960, in Pampa. They raised two children, Ken and Shelly, in Pampa and were actively involved in the lives of their three grandchildren, Madison, Tyler, and Nolan. On July 16, 2024, Gabe and Jimma celebrated 64 years of marriage.

Jimma was a longtime member of the First Christian Church where she taught Sunday School for many years before becoming a member of the First United Methodist Church in 2019.

Jimma was an active member of her community, participating in PTA, Cub Scouts, Brownies and many other activities that her children were involved in. She never backed away from a challenge, even roofing her family’s home with her dear friend Sue Gibson.

Her greatest pleasure was being called “Goy” by her three grandchildren. The boys were her pride and joy, and she spent as much time with them as possible, laughing, teaching, playing, and providing a questionable example for them to follow. To this day, they fondly remember her “butt kicking boots.”

Her family and friends will always remember her sense of humor and her ability to make the best of any situation. Jimma will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

A very special thank you to the compassionate and caring staff at Golden Pond Senior Living – The Meadows Memory Care and Dignity Hospice in Golden, CO. They provided great care, kindness, and comfort to Jimma and her family during these past few months.

Jimma is preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Dianne Garrett.

She is survived by her husband, Gabe Crossman of Arvada, CO; son, Ken Crossman (Julie Branch) of Oklahoma City, OK; daughter, Shelly (Tim) Kelley of Arvada, CO; brother, Robert Garrett of Midland, TX; Grandsons, Madison (Sarah) Kelley of Littleton, CO; Tyler (Alyssa) Kelley of Minneapolis, MN; Nolan Kelley of Denver, CO; and one great granddaughter, Morgan Joy Kelley, Littleton, CO.
