William Wood, 76, of Pampa, passed away on August 14, 2024, in Amarillo.

Graveside services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, August 19, 2024, at the Memory Gardens Cemetery. 

Arrangements and burial are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

William was born on September 23, 1947, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Bill and Leona Wood. He lived in Sapulpa, Oklahoma for a short time before coming to Pampa in 1967. 

William was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served during the Vietnam Conflict. 

Shortly after coming to Pampa, he met Elizabeth Ellis, and they married on December 10, 1969. Within this marriage, they spent almost 47 years together and raised six children.

William was employed in the petroleum industry most of his life and worked as an operator at many oil & gas outfits that included Helton, Myriad Resources, and Givens Well Service. 

In his spare time, he liked fishing, camping, watching football, and he always looked forward to each Olympic cycle. 

William was a quiet man who kept to himself, but he loved his family.

He will be missed by his family and friends.

William was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Charles Wood; a grandson, Jeremiah Wood; a granddaughter, D’Andranae Wood; and two sisters, Sandra Hughes, and Sharon Lee.

He is survived by two daughters, Angela Carver and husband Thomas of Pampa, and Kristina Wood and fiancé Reggie Williams of Pampa; three sons, Michael Wood of Pampa, Daniel Wood and wife Lezlea of Pampa, and Chris Wood of Pampa; a brother, David Wood of Amarillo; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and by other extended family members.
